HP Spectre x360 Convertible Laptop PC 13t-aw200 CTO
Microsoft Windows 11

My Spectre x360 Convertible 13t-aw200 has had lingering Blue Screen of Death issues since I purchased it about 13 months ago. When it was under warranty, I opened a customer support case, and after the system showing no apparent issues during troubleshooting, it was sent in to have the motherboard (or SSD...unsure which one) replaced. It still has had the same since then (~October 2021), with my laptop randomly shutting down and restarting. I've received all types of error messages, such as IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and MEMORY_MANAGEMENT...several others but the reboot is so quick I don't catch them or the error code doesn't actually show. I've run many diagnostic tests today with all of them coming back PASSED for every single one. Any info on how to fix would be fantastic.

Notes:

  • My laptop is currently out of warranty
  • Sometimes this BSOD errors will occur 4-5 times in a several hour span
  • I use Chrome as my default browser and have had issues where the screen will have an error, and I have to refresh the page
  • I also have an issue of the battery draining extensively while it's OFF...it'll die after turning it off ~80% power and leaving it off for several days

Hi @bc96

Welcome to the HP Support Community. Thanks for bringing this to our notice.

I see that you are facing bluescreen-related issues on your system. Do not worry, we are here to fix it.

Did you make any hardware or software-related changes to it?

Since the motherboard of your system has been replaced already, it could be an Operating System related issue. Let's try performing an Operating System Reinstallation on your system and let me know the outcome of it. Here is a link that will help: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04641788

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hello, I tried performing the OS recovery using the UEFI option with a USB drive. When I clicked the option to start the recovery, I only received a blank HP logo screen with no indication of the recovery status. After several hours of the screen being stuck like that, I forced a power off.

Oh No! I am sorry about that.

Could you try again using the same USB in another port and check if the issue persists?

Let me know.

Hello, I was able to get the "recovery from a drive" process started (using the only USB-A port my laptop has...so I can't try the 2 other USB-C ports). I opted for just removing my files rather than a full clean since I'd like to use the laptop for a few more months if the issue doesn't persist. However, twice I've had the process stop with the error message "There was a problem recovering your PC." Should I try the full clean anyway?

Also, I just got an IQRL NOT LESS OR EQUAL error during the recovery that restarted my laptop and now having to try the recovery for a 4th time. All 3 previous attempts aborted before or at ~13% in the recovery process.
