HP Spectre x360 - 13-ap0023dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop keeps making a loud buzzing noise, which seems to come from one of the fan areas. I've tried blowing the fans with compressed air to clean them, updating the BIOS, deleting old files, and simply letting it cool down when it gets too hot. I've also ordered new rubber feet since mine are beginning to fall off.

However, nothing I've done has caused the buzzing noise to go away. Is there anything else I can do to make it stop? Also, any idea what is causing it?

Thanks!

Are you sure that the noise is from the fan only? If you are not sure that it is fan then there are chances that the noise can be from the drive. Most of the times there are 4 probable causes for noise from a hard drive:

  1. The insufficient power supply.
  2. Physical depreciation of the hard drive which results from either simple issues or damage such as a physical shock or trauma.
  3. A hard drive may be failed due to the faulty data cables, or incorrect drivers installed.
  4. A crashed hard drive.

Further, you can try the subsequent fixes which people have used to overcome the issue:

  1. Check whether the hard drive is getting enough power or not. You can do it by plugging the power adapter directly into the power supply.
  2. Replace the data cable with the new one and turn on the drive. Now, if it does not make any noise, then the data cable might be faulty.
  3. In case the drive still makes noises, then there is a high possibility the drive is failing and needs to be replaced.
