HP Spectre x360 Laptop - 15-eb0003na
Microsoft Windows 11

Hopefully someone can help as I am all out of ideas.

My Spectre X360 is stuck in tablet mode.

This happened 2 days ago.  I turned my laptop on as normal in the morning (had been off overnight) and I had no keyboard or touch pad.  I thought it was strange.  Then I noticed it was in tablet mode.  But I had no touch screen either.  I rebooted (held power button) and it was still the same.

I connected a USB mouse / keyboard and manged to get access to the laptop and started to work through the problem.

To date I have done - in order - all of which made no difference

Check / uncheck screen rotation in settings

Update the registry to show tablet mode 0 (and 1 also just for testing)

Carried out several windows updates

Rolled back to a restore point about 3 days ago

Rolled back to a restore point about 14 days ago

None of these had any effect.  Still no keyboard, track pad, touch, rotation not working, its just stuck in tablet mode.

THEN

I updated the BIOS AND did a total reinstall of Windows from restore.

AFTER doing these 2 steps on first boot after setting up Windows for its first boot it re-booted in DESKTOP MODE.  Great..

I thought I had fixed it.

However, the next re-boot I did it went straight back into tablet mode.  And I am now stuck again with no keyboard, track pad, touch or any of the desktop features.

Anyone got any ideas?  I have a feeling this issue has been caused by the windows update on 28th August.  In the last 3 years of owing this machine this is the first issue I have had - but its a major one.

Thanks

Forgot to say I have also updated the intel sensor suite drivers.  No change there either.

HP Notebook PCs - Switching Between Tablet Mode and Desktop Mode (Windows 10)

Turn tablet mode on or off

Tablet mode makes Windows 10 more touch-friendly when using your device as a tablet. Select the action center on the taskbar (next to the date and time), and then select Tablet mode to turn it on or off.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I am on windows 11 so there is no official tablet mode.

I tried all the usual fixes online nothing is working.

I have rolled back to windows 10 and the keyboard, mouse and touch screen are still not working.

In BIOS the keyboard and track pad work perfectly - its only once in windows it wont work.

The only issue I can find is if I go into device manager there is 1 problem

Just putting this BTT.  Anyone got any more ideas?

I am still stuck with no key board our mouse or touch screen.

My keyboard and mouse work in the BIOS menu and test out fine so it has to be a software issue surely?

HP have not really been much help tbh.  My next step is to talk to my credit card company I guess..
