Hi,
I am currently struggling with my screen dimming during split screen. It was not like this when I purchased, but there was a setting that popped up with my HP support assisstant that gave me the option to save battery.
It was something along the lines of battery saving, or adaptive battery setting.
So on normal full screen view, it is bright but when I do a split screen, if I click on the window, that will stay bright and the other one screen will automatically have its brightness reduced.
How do I change my setting back to normal. I have tried going into edit power plan -> change advanced power setting, but I am unable to see which is the right section to change the setting back.
I hope I have made sense, but I will attach a screenshot to hopefully make it clearer by seeing it visually.

Welcome to the HP User Community.
Settings > System > Battery
Read the article for how the Battery Saver setting works and how to adjust the setup.
Reminders / Excerpted from the article
- Battery saver can only be turned on while your PC is running on battery power.
- Battery saver is turned off automatically while your PC is plugged in.
- This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off battery saver for your account in Windows 11.

Thank you Dragon-fur, unfortunately this is not the one.
I am not sure what it is exactly and seems like my attached screenshot picture has not come through.
When my laptop is on and off charge, it still does the same.
At this point, I have no idea how to explain to get the right trouble shooting support.
When I split my screen into two broswers.
I click on one of the browswer (eg on the left) so the left half will be brighter than the right half which will be dimmed.
And the same if I split it into four, for example.
Which ever browser/tab I click on, that will be the brightest while the other stays dimmed

You are welcome. Too bad it was not so easy - or even right. Smiling.
Aside from a response to running on battery or a reaction of an adaptive screen brightness setting, for the moment at least, I don't know. I've not yet come across an explanation and I cannot yet duplicate what you are seeing.
For those reading
Windows 11 handles screen splitting more easily than do previous versions of the OS.
Example article here: How to Split Screen in Windows 11
When I have a few minutes, I'll see if I can find anything that sounds similar to what you are describing.

OK, good then.
I did not find what you describe -- Regardless, I am glad it is resolved.
The information I found the HP Command Center for the Spectre series is for Windows 10.
The application helps control cooling.
HP ENVY, Spectre Notebook PCs - HP Command Center (Windows 10)
"HP Command Center is a feature in HP ENVY and Spectre Notebook computers that allows you to adjust the temperature and cooling preferences of your notebook by leveraging the hardware, software, and mechanical design of your system to keep you comfortable while using it."

I found "Focus Assist" for both Windows 10 and Windows 11
Make it easier to focus on tasks
"Windows offers lots of ways to minimize distractions so it's easier to focus on tasks. You can declutter your taskbar and simplify the Start menu, use Focus assist to manage your notifications, and use the Immersive Reader to minimize visual distractions when reading a web page in Microsoft Edge."

Hi Luubz
Thank you for your info. I have been struggling with this issue for 2 months. I remembered I played with HP setting but I don't remember what I did. It's a painful experience since I use extened monitor for my online class where I need to toggle between screen 1 and screen 2
