Hello everyone.
I hope you can help me with my problem.
HP 15.6" 15-e2000 (2J4V9AV),
My laptop keeps re-starting randomly. Sometimes it happens every 3 minutes, other times every half hour or more and print the following screen:
blue screen & message:
“Your device ran into a problem and needs to restart. We'll restart for you.”
Stop code: SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION.
(1st Problem before doing anything)
Since this recurring error was preventing me from using my laptop, the first thing I did was backup my data and reinstall Windows from 0. I downloaded ISO from the official Microsoft site and installed Windows 11 via USB. The installation was successful, but the problem persisted.
I thought the USB drive might be damaged, so I tried different new USB drives and create booteable Windows USB using various programs like Rufus and Ventoy. Additionally, I downloaded the Windows 10 and 11 ISOs on two different PCs in case the original ISO was corrupted. Yet, the problem persisted.
Next, I did different hardware tests. First, I used the BIOS System Diagnostic to check the processor, memory, storage, power, board, and everything passed. Then, I used third-party software like CrystalDisk and mdsched.exe from windows to check RAM, and everything seemed fine. However, the problem continued.
Having exhausted my initial tests, I bought new RAM and a new M.2 drive, installed them, and reinstalled Windows, but the result was the same. I also checked the processor and other component temperatures, and everything was normal.
As a last resort, I updated BIOS. My laptop had the factory version F.31 dated 02/08/2023 and then updated it to the latest version, F.33 Rev.A dated 17/05/2024. At the end, the BIOS UPDATE installation was successful.
After doing this, I reinstalled Windows, but the problem got worse.
Now, every time I try to install Windows, this error appears.
Blue screen & message:
Now, during the operating system installation, I get this error:
“Your device ran into a problem and needs to restart. We'll restart for you.”
Stop Code: SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED.
What failed: WimFsf.sys.
(last issue -BlueScreen)
I hope that with all the information provided, you can help me find a solution.
Thank you all, I will be looking forward to your comments.

Hi @GilbertJPG,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you've done a lot of troubleshooting already. Given the extensive steps you've taken, it seems the problem could be more deep-seated. Here are a few more things you could try:
Check for Physical Issues
- Reseat All Components: Ensure that all components (RAM, SSD, etc.) are seated properly.
- Check for Damage: Look for any visible signs of damage on the motherboard, connectors, or other components.
BIOS Settings
- Reset BIOS to Default: Sometimes custom BIOS settings can cause issues. Try resetting the BIOS to default settings.
- Disable Secure Boot and Fast Boot: Temporarily disable these features to see if it helps.
Driver Issues
- Update Drivers: Make sure all your drivers, especially for the chipset, storage, and network, are up-to-date. You can use HP's support website to download the latest drivers for your model.
Clean Installation
- Diskpart Clean: During the installation process, use the command prompt to clean the drive:
- Boot from the installation media and press Shift + F10 to open Command Prompt.
- Type diskpart and press Enter.
- Type list disk and press Enter.
- Identify your disk and type select disk X (replace X with the correct disk number).
- Type clean and press Enter. This will erase all partitions on the disk.
- Proceed with the installation again.
Hardware Tests HP PCs - Testing for hardware failures
- Run Extended Diagnostics: Use HP's UEFI diagnostics to run an extended test on all components. This can sometimes catch issues that quick tests might miss.
Windows Installation
- Different Windows Versions: You mentioned trying both Windows 10 and 11. Ensure you are using the latest ISO files from Microsoft's official site.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
