Hi @Majhol,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

The error message you're seeing, "Stop code: CRITICAL SERVICE FAILED", on a blue screen typically means that Windows encountered a serious issue during startup, often due to a corrupted driver, missing system file, or incompatible update. Here's how to approach fixing it:

1. Try Startup Repair

  1. Power off the computer completely.
  2. Power it on and as soon as the HP logo appears, hold down the power button to force a shutdown. Repeat this 3 times. On the 3rd time, Windows should enter Recovery Mode.
  3. Select:
    • Advanced optionsStartup Repair
    • Follow the on-screen instructions.

2. Boot into Safe Mode

If Startup Repair doesn’t work:

  1. In Recovery Mode → choose TroubleshootAdvanced optionsStartup Settings
  2. Click Restart
  3. After the restart, press 4 or F4 to boot into Safe Mode

If the PC boots into Safe Mode, the issue is likely a driver or update that needs to be rolled back.

3. Uninstall Recent Updates

Still in Safe Mode:

  • Go to Control PanelPrograms and FeaturesView installed updates
  • Remove any recent Windows updates or driver installs.

4. Use System Restore

If you've previously created a restore point:

  • In Recovery Mode → TroubleshootAdvanced optionsSystem Restore
  • Choose a date before the issue started.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
