Pavilion 15 gaming laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I couldn't start windows after rebooting system due to a .net firmware update (that may not finished completely).

After switching on the pc a black screen appeared.

I tried to install it again with a USB but after the hp logo shows up for few seconds the display goes black and remains so for hours till I switch it off long pressing the power button, the USB works properly as I tried it on other pcs. Also the hardware is fine as I run Fedora with no problems.

I have a hp pavilion 15 gaming laptop

@PietroM1 Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you are unable to boot.

Do not worry. I will try to fix the issue.

I have a few steps that should help,

Some HP Notebook PCs come with two sticks of memory and have two memory slots. If you experience a black screen or blue screen with the HP logo, the problem could be with one of the sticks of memory or with one of the memory slots.

To determine what is causing the failure, try to isolate the problem by:

  • Performing a memory self-test

  • Checking for loose memory modules

  • Testing the memory modules

  • Testing the memory slots

Here's a related HP Forums post for more information that seems to have helped others as well: Click here

If the issue still persists, please perform the system reset and check for the issue.

Let me know how that pans out,

Hi @Praveen196

There was no problem with the memory stick as It worked fine with the other operative system as I mentioned in my request. Anyway the memory slots passed all the test so that was not the issue.

I also tried the system reset but it was unsuccessfully too.

Anyway now the PC was sent to HP for a check, let's see what comes out...

Thank you for your time. : )
