Hey,
I am trying to flash down my HP Insyde F.09 Rev A bios to F.08 or F.06.
How can I do this? I've tried using the normal installers and they wont let me update my device.
I tried using an USB and then booting the EFI file from the BIOS update. It booted me into the BIOS update but said it couldnt.
Would love some help on this.

Hi @mfjustii,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Flashing down the BIOS on your HP Pavilion Plus 16-inch laptop can be tricky, as HP typically doesn't support downgrading the BIOS, as it may cause instability or compatibility issues. However, if you're determined to proceed, here’s a general approach you can try.
Important:
- Make sure you back up your data before proceeding, as BIOS flashing can cause your system to become unbootable if something goes wrong.
- Ensure your laptop has a full battery or is plugged into power during the process.
Use HP's BIOS Recovery Tool (If Available)
Download the desired older BIOS version:
- Go to the HP Support website and search for your laptop model.
- Download the specific BIOS version (F.08 or F.06) that you want to downgrade to.
Create a Bootable USB Drive:
- Format a USB stick as FAT32.
- Extract the BIOS update files to the root directory of the USB.
Initiate the BIOS Recovery:
- Power off your laptop completely.
- Insert the USB drive with the BIOS update files into the laptop.
- Press and hold the Windows + B keys (or Esc + B, depending on the laptop model) while turning on the laptop.
- Keep holding the keys until you see the BIOS Recovery screen.
- If it prompts you with an option to restore or update the BIOS, select the option to recover or downgrade to the older BIOS version.
Downgrade Using Command Prompt
Prepare the USB Stick:
- As in the first method, format the USB stick with FAT32 and extract the BIOS files to it.
Access Advanced Startup:
- Restart the laptop and press F11 repeatedly to access the Advanced Startup options.
- Select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt.

Navigate to the USB Drive:
- Once in Command Prompt, type the drive letter of the USB stick (usually D:, E:, or another letter based on your system) and press Enter.
Run the BIOS Flash Command:
- Navigate to the directory where the BIOS file is located on the USB stick.
- Run the command to downgrade, usually something like:
biosupdate.exe /force
- If this doesn't work, the system might not allow the downgrade due to security restrictions.
Use HP Support Assistant
If the above methods don’t work, you can try downgrading through HP Support Assistant:
- Open HP Support Assistant and check for BIOS updates.
- Sometimes, older versions might appear there if the downgrade is allowed by HP.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
