Microsoft Windows 11

Laptop crashed, powered it on and the recovery options opened. Went to purchase a drive to backup files too, came back to the laptop and the recovery environment no longer opens. The HP logo stays on the screen and says please wait. I waited for around 48 hours. Powered off, unplugged power/disconnected battery. Powered on. Updated BIOS then restarted. Same thing. Created a USB drive with Windows 11 Installation Media and attempted several times to boot from the USB to get into recovery environment. Same thing still happens. Stuck on HP logo for days. Hard drive did fail short dst test. Unsure of what to do next.

Hi:

If the hard drive failed the short DST, you will need to install a new hard drive and reinstall the operating system.

Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the hard drive removal and replacement procedure.

You may want to consider replacing the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a better performing 2.5" solid state drive (SSD).
