The laptop has not been turned on for a couple of weeks until today. It was working ok last time it was used and all updates were installed. It  has Windows 10, updated from Windows 8.

It immediately opens up with System Information, and to press Esc to Continue.

The escape button does nothing, neither does any other key.

I've taken the battery out but no change in start up.

I've looked at the answers but nothing seem to fit as the System Information is instantly displayed, so no time to press any key.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Many thanks

Thanks for your help.

I tried the Power Drain and exactly the same happened - the System Information immediately appeared.

I tried starting it with an old XP Boot Disc in the cd drive

F1 System Menu appeared at the bottom the screen and it was trying to read the disc but then went to he System Information screen

If the issue persists I suggest you perform a System Recovery using the Recovery Media

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file inorder to install Windows operating system. Click here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c06162205 to Use the HP Cloud Recovery Tool (Windows 10, 7)

Is there anything else I could try?

Many thanks

Thanks for the suggestion but no joy.

I have tried to get the contact details but have gone round in circles with flashing HP webpages, or the screen being grey-ed out and the 'Did You Know' box appearing, or having to repeatedly sign in and enter product details.

My pc constantly crashes as a result (it isn't HP)

I tried 0800 652 8704 (UK) but after ringing that went dead.

What I thought would be an easy task to obtain the recovery media has become a nightmare.

Is there a phone number or email address I could contact please for UK support?

Since my replier earlier today I have created a Recovery Drive from my laptop on to a memory stick.

The HP laptop will not recognise the USB drive
