Hello.

I am sending a laptop back to HP for replacement. To ensure my privacy, I attempted a System Recovery  from the hard drive to bring the computer back to factory condition.  The message "Restoration Incomplete" came up after the process was complete. I attempted another System Recovery from the hard drive and from my USB Recovery Drive, but I got the same "Restoration Incomplete" message. When I shut off the computer and turned it back on, it brought up the blue screen with the language keyboard options.

Is it possible that my personal files (documents, pictures, videos, etc.) have been wiped from the hard drive despite the "Restoration Incomplete" message, or would my personal data still be on the hard drive?

If my personal data was not erased, could you give me information on what I could do to complete the System Recovery? I cannot do a Reset because I cannot find that option.

Thank you.

The drive most likely was formatted during the process-removing your files. Where it fails is after erasing the drive and restarting to finalize the fresh install of Windows -probably of drivers/software.
