Hi Sean,

I understand that you have a new HDD, and that you want to install the OS.  Please tell me the product number of your computer and how old is your computer.

I think your computer is CTO(Customised to order).   Once we find the warranty status of your computer, then it would be easy to check the availability of recovery cd/usb  or softlink.

Waiting for your reply.

Thanking You,

Regards,

Ashok - I work for HP.

Hi Ashok-

It's an HP 14t-j100 CTO  Serial Number: [Personal Information Removed]  P/N: L8V12AV.

I purchased it in 2015. It had windows 10.
This exact thing happened once before, but it was under warranty at the time, but it is definitely not now.

Best-

Hi Sean,

Thank you for the details.    You mentioned the Sl. # which was not required.  Next time, unless asked  please do not reveal the sl. # of your hp products.

Coming to the issue of installing the software  in your new hdd.. please use the below link..

In that link , there is an option to purchase CD/DVD   ie; the last option.   You would have to purchase the recovery media.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-envy-14-j100-notebook-pc/8499280/model/8943298

Please tell me the outcome.  Click on "kudos" once the issue is resolved.

Thanking You,

Nope...
Man your customer service system and pages continue to be some of the most frustrating I've ever experienced.

I've entered two separate cards multiple times to purchase the restore only to get this:

"One or more of the fields on the payment form contains an error. Please return to the payment screen to complete the form again and resubmit."

It's bad enough that it doesn't tell me which field is wrong, but there is also no way to order this apparently without  going through customer support and paying yet another fee to get someone on the horn to take my money for the restore, which is already costing me $50.

What's the road map from here.
