File: \EFI\Microsoft\Boot\BFF
Error: 0xc0000034
It gave me UEFI options (system recovery, diagnostics etc.)
I ran diagnostics, both quick and extended and everything passed and no failure codes.
I went to troubleshooting options and tried to back up my data (it gave me the option) but after selecting everything I needed to save, plugging in my external hard drive and beginning to copy, it continuously said Drive Disconnected.
I also noticed in this mess, that I had an SD card in when the computer restarted. So it might have tried to boot off of that.
PLEASE tell me what to do! I haven't had the opportunity to back everything up and I'm a photographer. I've barely had this computer for a year and have had issue after issue (all small, but they're really adding up). I managed to fix exerything so far with common knowledge, but this is beyond me. I'm lost and completely ready to cry. I CANNOT LOSE MY PHOTOS. PLEASE HELP ME.

Thanks for replying.
A startup repair is also similar to a Windows refresh. If you get an option to perform a startup repair then please go ahead with it. This will not delete your data.
Though the steps are for Win8, they work for Win10 too. The message "To use System Restore, you must specify which Windows installation to restore.
Restart this computer, select an operating system, and then select System Restore" indicates a corruption in the Windows operating system.
Keep me posted if the startup repair worked. Good luck!

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.
I read that your HP ENVY Notebook - m6-p113dx crashed while working on it and produced a blue screen error. You ran the hardware tests and they all passed. It also did allow you to backup your data. Not to worry, I'll do my best to help you.
To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- Is the laptop able to boot to Windows or is it still displaying the error?
- Did any software changes or happen on the laptop recently?
Meanwhile, I recommend you to perform a Microsoft System Restore to roll back your laptop to an earlier date when it worked fine. This will not delete your data. Please perform the steps mentioned under "Restore your computer when Windows cannot start normally".
If the issue still persists then let us perform a Windows refresh (repair). This will not delete your personal files. Please refer to the steps mentioned under "Refreshing your computer when Windows will not open to the Start screen". The following list shows what happens when you refresh your computer:
-
Your files and personalization settings such as libraries, user accounts, and desktop themes are saved.
-
The computer settings are returned to the defaults.
-
Apps from the Windows store are reinstalled, and the settings are reset to their defaults. Internet connectivity is not required to reinstall these apps.
-
Desktop apps are removed unless they were installed by the computer manufacturer. At the end of the refresh process, an HTML file called Removed Apps.html is placed on the desktop with a list of the desktop apps that were removed.
I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Please feel free to keep me posted. Good luck! 🙂

"To use System Restore, you must specify which Windows installation to restore.
Restart this computer, select an operating system, and then select System Restore."
But not once has it given me the option to choose Windows 8, 8.1 or 10. How do I go about choosing this?

Is doing a Startup Repair the same as Windows Refresh? I do not want to do anything that will jeopardize me losing my photos.

Awesome. Great stuff in resolving this issue. 🙂
I must say that technical solutions can only be provided, but it was you who implemented the steps to perfection.
Happy computing!
