Hello! I have been trying to fix my laptop that has been showing error messages with the hard drive and operating system. I have tried everything I saw on the website so far and cannot seem to bypass the error screens and messaged to use the actual laptop. Please help! Thank you!!

Hi @haleytk7, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Notebook 15-da0014dx is experiencing hard drive and operating system errors that prevent you from booting into Windows. Let's go step by step to troubleshoot and possibly fix the issue:
Step 1: Run a Hard Drive Diagnostic
- Turn off your laptop.
- Power it on and immediately press the F2 key repeatedly until the HP Hardware Diagnostics screen appears.
- Select Component Tests > Hard Drive and run the Quick Test.
- If the quick test fails, run the Extensive Test for a more in-depth check.
- If the hard drive test shows an error (e.g., SMART failure, 303, 305, or 3F0 error), your hard drive is likely failing and needs replacement.
Step 2: Check BIOS Hard Drive Detection
- Turn on your laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter the BIOS.
- Go to Storage > Device Configuration and check if the hard drive is detected.
- If it's not detected, try reseating the hard drive (if you're comfortable opening the laptop).
- If detected but still not booting, proceed to Step 3.
Step 3: Use Windows Automatic Repair
- Turn on the laptop and immediately press F11 repeatedly to open HP Recovery.
- Select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Repair.
- Follow the prompts and see if Windows can repair itself.
Step 4: Repair Windows Using Installation Media
If Startup Repair doesn't work, try reinstalling or repairing Windows:
- On another PC, download the Windows 10/11 Media Creation Tool from Microsoft's website.
- Create a bootable USB (at least 8GB).
- Insert the USB into your HP laptop and boot from it by pressing F9 at startup and selecting the USB drive.
- Choose Repair your computer to try fixing Windows.
- If repair doesn’t work, reinstall Windows by selecting Custom Install (backup data first if possible).
Step 5: Replace the Hard Drive (If Necessary)
- If the hard drive test failed in Step 1, you may need to replace the drive and reinstall Windows.
- Install a new SSD for better performance, then reinstall Windows using the bootable USB.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
