Hi @Bharat_05,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're dealing with unexpected shutdowns and restarts on your HP 15.6-inch laptop. Here are a few steps you can take to diagnose and potentially fix the issue.
Check for Overheating
- Ensure that the laptop's cooling system is working properly and that vents are not blocked. Overheating can cause the system to shut down to prevent damage.
Update Drivers and BIOS
- Go to the HP Support website or use HP Support Assistant to check for and install any available updates for your drivers and BIOS.
Run Hardware Diagnostics
- HP laptops usually come with built-in diagnostic tools. Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly to open the Startup Menu. Then select F2 to run the hardware diagnostics and check for any issues.
Check for Windows Updates
- Ensure that your operating system is up to date. Sometimes, updates can fix bugs that cause system instability.
Examine Event Viewer Logs
- Open Event Viewer (search for it in the Start menu) and check the logs under "Windows Logs" -> "System" for any critical errors or warnings around the time of the unexpected shutdowns. This might give you more insight into what is causing the issue.
Check for Faulty Software
- Boot into Safe Mode (press Shift while selecting Restart from the Start menu and then choose Safe Mode). If the issue doesn’t occur in Safe Mode, a third-party application might be causing the problem. Try uninstalling recently installed applications.
Run a Virus Scan
- Use your antivirus software to perform a full system scan to ensure there are no malware infections causing instability.
Check Power Settings
- Go to Control Panel -> Power Options and make sure your power settings are configured correctly. Sometimes, incorrect power settings can cause unexpected shutdowns.
Check RAM and Hard Drive Health
- Use tools like Memtest86 to check the health of your RAM and CHKDSK (run from Command Prompt) to check your hard drive for errors.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
