Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I’ve recently have been reinstalling windows 10  on my laptop and the reinstalation is taking a very long time (15hrs+). Should I be worried or is this normal for gaming laptops to take this long?

You didn't say which media type you are using -- DVD or USB stick -- and the former is a LOT slower than the latter.  But the time you have spent far exceeds anything I have experienced.

You also didn't say what the probem was that prompted you to reinstall Windows.  It would help if we knew that.

Also, this model has a 16GB memory stick configured as a drive for acceleration -- and I'm not familiar with how this works.  It might be configured at the factory to be a "hybrid drive" configuration, and if that is the case, you will not be able to reinstall Win10 yourself.

But ... I leave this to others that are more familiar with this setup.

I used a USB stick and the problem was that the network diagnostics didn’t work and I was unable to connect to the internet. There were other problems but I decided to eliminate all of them by reinstalling Win10.

Thanks for the replies ...

Win10 does update drivers without your knowledge or permission and if the network connecting failures are recent, that is likely what happened.  You might have been able to do a driver rollback and saved yourself a lot of grief.

As to that very L...O...N...G time, the most likely cause is a failing drive.

If your PC is new enough to support UEFI, you can use these steps to test the hard drive: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00439024
