I have an HP Bang & Olufsen. It did a windows update and during restart it will no longer load. I tried doing multiple hard resets with no luck. I got into the startup menu but cannot select an option as there are no F1-F11 keys to select my options. I cannot select anything except enter to get me back to the loading screen that does nothing. I am a basic computer user. Please help.

@Boo2thebones20, Welcome to the HP Support Community – it’s great to have you here!

I appreciate you taking the time to share your question. I'm more than happy to assist with this and provide a solution that works for you.

I understand your HP Bang & Olufsen notebook stopped loading after a Windows Update and you're unable to access recovery options due to missing or non-functional F1–F11 keys. Let's walk through a few steps to help you recover your system.

Try Using the On-Screen Keyboard

If your physical function keys aren’t working:

  • At the Startup Menu, press Tab or Esc to highlight options.
  • Use Enter to select “Continue Startup” or “Startup Menu.”
  • If you reach a login screen, press Windows + Ctrl + O to open the On-Screen Keyboard and try using F11 from there.

Use HP Cloud Recovery Tool (if F11 doesn’t work)

If F11 System Recovery isn’t accessible, you can use the HP Cloud Recovery Tool to reinstall Windows:

Hard Reset (if not already tried)

Just to confirm:

  • Power off the notebook.
  • Unplug the power adapter.
  • Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect power and try booting again.

BIOS Recovery (if available)

If the system doesn’t boot at all:

  • Turn off the notebook.
  • Press and hold Windows + B, then press and hold the Power button for 2–3 seconds.
  • Release all keys. If BIOS recovery is available, it will start automatically.

I hope your issue is now resolved. If not, feel free to reply and we’ll continue helping until everything’s sorted!
