HP 2000 Notebook
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi. I am at a loss to PERMANENTLY wipe out all files from my notebook that came with a factory-built-in Windows 7. I have not dared to do anything largely because I am not clear whether wiping out all files would also erase the OS or not. The notebook will be given away.

Is there any HP video tutorial to perform such actions? Thank you.

@Massini

There is no video tutorial -- but there is this article that I wrote:  https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebooks-Knowledge-Base/Preparing-a-used-HP-notebook-for-resale/ta-p/...

And yes, wiping the files removes the OS, so you would have to follow the instructions in the article to restore an OS.  There is no way to wipe the files without wiping the OS.

again, many thanks for your contribution. Since my computer knowledge is very limited, I'll probably ask a relative to implement what you suggested.

Best wishes
