Welcome to the HP Support Community.
To better assist you - Were there any recent changes made to the computer?
While you respond to that, try these steps -
Step 1 Restart Windows Explorer -
1) Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc and choose to open Task Manager.
2) Under Processes, find Windows Explorer, right-click on it and select End task.
Step 2 sfc/scan -
1) Select Start, and in the search box, enter Command Prompt. Press and hold (or right-click) Command Prompt (Desktop app) from the search results and select Run as administrator.
2) Enter DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth (note the spaces before each "/").
3) Enter sfc /scannow (note the space between "sfc" and "/").
Also, try updating the computer -
Step 3 Windows Updates -
1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.
Step 4 HP Support Assistant Updates -
1) In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.
If the issue still persists, try re-registering the taskbar -
1) Right-click the Start Menu, and choose Windows PowerShell (Admin).
2) Enter the following commands (each command resets one feature) into PowerShell, and press Enter:
Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperienceHost | foreach {Add-AppxPackage -register “$($_.InstallLocation)appxmanifest.xml” -DisableDevelopmentMode}
