The opening screen shows a "Battery Counterfeit Check Error" on a blue screen and says, "Non-HP battery detected. This might pose health and safety risks. HP recommends using HP batteries only. Using a non-compatible or non-HP battery might pose health and safety risks. The installed battery does not appear to be an HP battery and fast charging might not be available."' I recently bought this laptop and this is the first time I'm facing such an issue.

Hi @Khushi1226,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the "Battery Counterfeit Check Error" message indicates that your HP Pavilion 14 Laptop has detected a battery that it doesn't recognize as an official HP battery. This warning typically appears if the battery is non-HP, incompatible, or if there's an issue with the battery's connection or firmware.
Here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue:
Verify the Battery:
- If you recently bought the laptop, ensure that the battery is original and was not swapped out for a non-HP battery. If you purchased the laptop from an authorized dealer, the battery should be genuine.
Check Battery Installation:
- Sometimes, a loose battery connection can cause this error. Turn off your laptop, unplug it, and remove the battery (if it's user-removable). Reinsert the battery carefully and ensure it's properly seated.
Update BIOS:
- An outdated BIOS might not properly recognize the battery. You can update the BIOS by going to the HP Support website, entering your laptop model, and downloading the latest BIOS update.
Check for Battery Firmware Updates: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Sometimes, HP releases firmware updates specifically for batteries to improve compatibility and fix such issues. Check the HP website for any available firmware updates for your battery.
Consider Replacing the Battery:
- If the issue persists and you confirmed that the battery is non-HP or defective, consider replacing it with a genuine HP battery.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
