Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Envy 15.  HP Support Assistant unable to locate the battery.  Windows 10 reports battery is charging but it isn't.  Instead it slowly discharges.  If I remove and reinstall the battery it charges to 100% and then the cycle repeats.

Let me check your current system configuration before we focus on the battery ...

 

(1) Run    msinfo32

- Select <System Summary>:

--->>> Copy/screenshot/paste following key/value pairs:

 

OS Name

Version

System Model

System SKU

( equals HP product number (p/n) )

Processor

BIOS Version/Date

 

(2Please report your results

Neither msinfo32 nor misnfo64 will download.nor are they listed under my apps but the following may help:

 

Device name HANS-3
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4710HQ CPU @ 2.50GHz 2.50 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB

System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display

To help you I need to know the product number (p/n) xxxxxx#xxx of your notebook !

 

It looks something like this:

You will find this information on the back/rear of your notebook in small alphanumeric letters.

The only label on the back of my notebook has the following info.:

 

FG721-46970..  I have just updated my Bio which did nothing to help with the problem

Hello @hsg1 

 

Please < calibrate > your battery ...

 

(1) Open windows <device manager> and uninstall "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery

- Right click on "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery"

- Click "Uninstall device"

- Confirm your choice if you see a popup notification

(2Shutdown notebook

(3) Disconnect charger

(4) Press and hold <power> button for 30 seconds

(5) Connect charger and wait until battery is fully charged ( check LED indicator )

(6) Start notebook and log in to windows and wait a few minutes

(7) Reboot notebook

(8) Please report your results
