Hi @Svam,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding device driver!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

The "Thread Stuck in Device Driver" error is a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) issue that usually happens due to faulty, outdated, or incompatible graphics drivers. Here’s how to fix it:

 Boot Into Safe Mode

Since your laptop may be crashing, booting into Safe Mode can help you apply fixes.

  1. Turn off your laptop.
  2. Turn it back on and force shut down when you see the HP logo (repeat 2-3 times until you enter "Windows Recovery Environment").
  3. Click Advanced options > Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings.
  4. Click Restart, then press 4 or F4 to boot into Safe Mode.

Update or Reinstall Graphics Drivers

Since this issue is usually caused by a graphics driver, updating or reinstalling it can help.

  1. Press Win + X, then select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Display Adapters.
  3. Right-click your graphics card (AMD Radeon or Intel) and select Update Driver.
  4. Click Search automatically for drivers.
  5. Restart your laptop and check if the issue is fixed.

If updating doesn’t work, try reinstalling:

  1. In Device Manager, right-click your graphics driver and select Uninstall Device.
  2. Restart your laptop; Windows should automatically reinstall a fresh driver.
  3. If not, download and install the latest driver from the HP support website or AMD/Intel's official site.

Run Windows Troubleshooters

Steps:

  1. Press Win + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  3. Click Blue Screen and select Run the troubleshooter.
  4. Also, run Hardware and Devices troubleshooter under Additional troubleshooters.

Check for Windows Updates

  1. Press Win + I to open Settings.
  2. Click Update & Security > Windows Update.
  3. Click Check for updates and install any available updates.

Roll Back Graphics Driver (If Issue Started Recently)

If the problem started after a recent update, rolling back the driver might help.

  1. Open Device Manager and go to Display Adapters.
  2. Right-click your graphics card and select Properties.
  3. Go to the Driver tab and click Roll Back Driver (if available).
  4. Restart your laptop and check if the error disappears.

Reset Windows (Last Resort)

If nothing works, resetting Windows may help:

  1. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery.
  2. Click Reset this PC > Keep my files.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.
