Microsoft Windows 11

Hello. I'm Korean and using a translation tool.

Occurs once every 3 days or in shorter intervals, The Thunderbolt dock G4 won't power up (Power LED is offed).
(The dock is not recognized in Windows, and all connected devices are not showing up.)

When the Thunderbolt cable is disconnected and connected to another laptop(surface pro7), it operates normally.

Therefore, it seems like the laptop is rejecting it.

When the issue occurs,  The issue is not resolved with the methods below.

- power On/Off laptop or rebooing.

- Disconnecting/reconnecting the Thunderbolt 4 USB-C cable.

The solution:  Reset BIOS configuration

Laptop powered off. then holding down the power button for more than 5 seconds.

After releasing the power button, and press power button

After doing that, CMOS checksum error occurs, (it seems like the CMOS has been reset?)

If you continue pressing the button, the laptop will reboot.

Afterward, power is supplied to the Thunderbolt dock, and it returns to normal.

Environment:

- Windows 11 home, version: 22H2, build: 22621.2861

- Laptop F/W: OMEN 17-ckxxxx, F.16 Rev.A, (Dec 01 2023)  --  (F/W F.17 cannot be installed on my laptop.)

- Dock F/W: Thunderbolt dock G4 280w, 1.4.20.0 Rev.A (Nov 01 2023)

- Also, all the latest drivers(for Windows11) have been installed through HP Support Assistant.

The issue occurs when I turn off all power the previous night, and the next morning, upon powering it on for the first time.

The current Thunderbolt G4 280w is consuming 3watts in standby power even when the laptop is turned off.

So, when I'm not using the laptop, I often cut off all AC power. Could this be the cause?

* 2024-01-13, The issue occurred when I turned off my laptop for about an hour yesterday and today. (AC power is connected.)

* 2024-01-16 , It's happening today, yesterday, and consistently.

* 2024-02-13,  It still occurs periodically, about once every 1-2 days.

Even after a 'BIOS RESET,' Thunderbolt recognition may fail.

What could be the cause?

Such incidents occur frequently, and it's really inconvenient to reset the BIOS every time it happens.

If this continues, it seems wiser to opt for discarding the DOCK.

ASAP, I hope this issue is addressed in the next firmware update.

I would also appreciate an option to disable Wake On Lan (WOL) to reduce standby power to less than 1w.

Thank you.
