Hallo,
I use an older zBook 15g3 as work laptop in the field. After I installed a clean version from win10 (via USB Stick, not recovery) I can not use the Thunderbolt3/USB-C Ports. The normal USB 3.0 ports are working properly.
To troubleshoot I tried several steps:
- Install again on another SSD (M2 Sata from the factory and replacement NVME, both show the same issue)
- Install as legacy and UEFI (Tried MPT and GPT Tables)
- Bios Updated to newest Version
- All drivers are installed, I also tried the Intel Driver and Support Assistent
- Checked that Thunderbolt and PCIe security is set off
- Checked that TB3 Ports are activated in Bios (also tried to turn it off and on and check inbetween)
- Updated TPM to newest Version (wanted to try if Win11 helps maybe)
- Shut off and reset USB (Pressing power for more than 30Seconds)
- Installed the TB3 Firmware, Secure Connect and xhci Drivers several times
So far I can get neither Thunderbolt 3 Devices (Dockingstation that used to run before) nor USB-C (Thumb Drives and harddrives)devices to be recognized. I get no warnings in hardware manager or any popup messaged and nothing is shown.
I just looks as if TB3 is gone or deativated, but it shouldn't be. It used to work properly in the past.
My next idea would be to try to install Win7 and update to win10 to see if some newer drivers are just missing or corrupt. Maybe another one had similar issues here.

I created a recovery stick on my zBook 17G3 and used it to reset the 15g3 which worked fine but the issue remained
I tried to use Ubuntu from a USB stick and TB3 didn't work as well. So I went to my 17g3 and tried it there and it worked as expected under Ubuntu under test mode.
So basically I can call it a hardware problem which is odd because it used to work before I reinstalled the system and all device are shown and marked as up to date. Bios settings also are fine. Well, but strange coincidences do occur.
...update, just in case another one is chasing down the rabbithole.
