Hi @Shinlyn,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand how concerning it can be when your TPM (Trusted Platform Module) is not showing up in the BIOS, especially after updating and troubleshooting in Device Manager. Let's see if we can help you resolve this issue.

  • Have you recently made any changes to the BIOS settings, or did you notice this issue arise after a specific update or installation?
  • Is your operating system fully updated, and have you checked for any optional updates that might relate to TPM or security features?
  • Are there any error messages related to TPM when you check in Windows Security or Device Manager?
  • Have you made any changes or upgrade to your OS?
  • If yes, this could be a compatibility issue as this is an older model.

However, try the following.

Verify BIOS Settings:

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings by pressing Esc, F10, or F2 during startup (the key may vary).
  • Navigate to the Security or Advanced tab and look for options related to TPM or PTT (Platform Trust Technology). Make sure it is enabled. If you find a setting related to TPM State, ensure it is set to Enabled.

Clear TPM via Windows Security:

  • Open Windows Security from the Start menu, then go to Device security and look for Security processor details.
  • If you see options there, you may find an option to Clear TPM. Be cautious, as this will reset the TPM and remove all keys associated with it. Make sure to back up any important data related to TPM usage before proceeding.

Check for BIOS Updates:

  • Visit the HP support website and enter your laptop model to check for any available BIOS updates.
  • Download and install any updates. Sometimes, newer BIOS versions may fix issues related to hardware recognition, including TPM.

Reinstall TPM Driver:

  • Open Device Manager and expand Security devices. If you see Trusted Platform Module 2.0, right-click on it and select Uninstall device.
  • After uninstalling, restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the TPM driver upon reboot. Check again in the BIOS to see if it appears.

Reset BIOS to Default Settings:

  • While in the BIOS, look for an option to reset to Default Settings or Optimized Defaults. This can sometimes resolve issues caused by misconfigured settings.
  • After resetting, save the changes and exit, then check if the TPM shows up in the BIOS again.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, it might be necessary to contact HP Phone Support for further assistance, as there could be a hardware issue with the TPM itself.

Keep me posted for further assistance
