Microsoft Windows 11

I'm using an HP ENVY *360- 15m-dr0012dx; windows 11 (OS). My hp laptop prompts this message "the BIOS recovery files cannot be found or the files are corrupted. Using another computer and a USB flash drive, download the latest BIOS file from the HP website and create a BIOS USB recovery drive for the PC that needs recovery. Insert the BIOS USB recovery drive into the PC that needs recovery and restart the PC" The HP website link was also added. I've accessed the site but there is no BIOS for a windows 11 OS. There was a windows 10 BIOS but I've tried that also but still my PC  isn't working. My question is

1. where can I download BIOS file for windows 11 OS to solve the problem   OR

2. can I use a BIOS file of windows 10 that is on the HP site to operate on my windows 11 (OS) PC.

I need help to resolve this problem with my PC

Hi @Jey_ICON118,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're encountering the message "the BIOS recovery files cannot be found or the files are corrupted" on your HP ENVY x360 laptop, you can follow the instructions provided to create a BIOS USB recovery drive. Here's a step-by-step guide.

  • Find another computer with internet access and a USB flash drive. Make sure the USB flash drive has enough storage space to hold the BIOS recovery file.
  • On the other computer, open a web browser and go to the official HP website (www.hp.com).
  • Navigate to the "Support" or "Drivers" section of the HP website. Look for a search bar or a way to search for drivers or software.
  • Enter your laptop model, "ENVY x360 15m-dr0012dx," in the search bar and hit Enter or click on the search icon.
  • Look for the "Drivers" or "BIOS" section and locate the latest BIOS update for your specific model. Make sure it's compatible with your laptop and download it to the computer.
  • Once the BIOS file is downloaded, insert the USB flash drive into the computer.
  • Open the downloaded BIOS file and follow the instructions provided to create a BIOS USB recovery drive. Typically, this involves running an executable file that will format the USB drive and copy the necessary files onto it.
  • After the BIOS USB recovery drive is created, safely eject the USB flash drive from the computer.
  • Now, insert the USB flash drive into your HP ENVY x360 laptop.
  • Power off your laptop completely.
  • Power on the laptop and immediately start tapping the appropriate key (often Esc, F2, F10, or F12) to access the boot menu or BIOS settings. Consult your laptop's user manual or the HP website for the correct key to press.
  • In the boot menu or BIOS settings, navigate to the "Recovery" or "Update BIOS" option using the arrow keys and press Enter.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to initiate the BIOS recovery process using the USB flash drive. The exact steps may vary depending on the specific HP ENVY x360 model.
  • Wait for the recovery process to complete. Do not interrupt or turn off the laptop during the process.
  • Once the BIOS recovery is finished, your laptop should restart, and hopefully, the error message should no longer appear.

It's important to note that performing a BIOS update or recovery carries a certain level of risk. If done incorrectly or interrupted, it can potentially cause permanent damage to your laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
