@Dhruvdobariya, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're experiencing an issue where the touchpad isn't working after downgrading your HP Laptop 15s-fq5111TU from Windows 11 to Windows 10. You've also noticed that the touchpad driver isn't showing in Device Manager, and manual installation didn’t help. Let’s fix that for you!
Enable Hidden Devices in Device Manager
Sometimes the touchpad may appear as a hidden or unknown device:
- Press Windows + X → click Device Manager
- Click View > Show hidden devices
- Expand Human Interface Devices or Mice and other pointing devices
- Look for entries like:
- I2C HID Device
- Synaptics SMBus TouchPad
- ELAN Input Device
If something appears greyed out or with a warning icon, continue to next step.
Install Intel Serial IO & Chipset Drivers (Mandatory)
Before the touchpad driver, install these essential platform drivers:
Intel Chipset Installation Utility (Windows 10)
Intel Serial IO Driver (Windows 10)
Official HP® Support
Restart your laptop after each installation.
Install Touchpad Driver
Once chipset and IO drivers are installed:
Synaptics Touchpad Driver (Windows 10):
OR ELAN Touchpad Driver, if applicable:
(Install the one that matches your hardware, usually Synaptics or ELAN. Try Synaptics first if unsure.)
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics (Optional)
To ensure hardware functionality:
Turn off the laptop, then power on and immediately press Esc, then F2 to enter HP UEFI Diagnostics.
Run the Touchpad/Mouse test under component tests.
Additional Tips
Make sure BIOS is up to date → HP Support Page – Drivers for 15s-fq5111TU
Check if "Internal Pointing Device" is enabled in BIOS (press Esc on boot → F10 → Advanced/Device Configuration)
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
