Hello HP Community!
A couple days ago I bought a new gadget from HP, which is the HP USB Fingerprint Mouse (4TS44AA). On a sidenote, i want to say that this mouse is really comfortable in your hand. As my expectations went for a mouse primally focused on the fingerprint module inside it.
But that's not really why i made this topic though. The main reason is that i can't get the mouse to work properly on my HP laptop. When I go to the Windows Hello section under Accounts in Settings and fill in my PIN to setup the fingerprint method, the screen where you normally would put your finger on fingerprint reader abruptly ends with an error. The error says that the connection with the fingerprint reader was broken and as i saw in my taskbar, the Safely remove hardware icon quickly disappeared an reappeared again.
As i browsed on the HP website i found this page on the knowledge base: https://support.hp.com/sg-en/document/c06204172 which listed some tips for situations when installing the fingerprint doesn't go well.
- I've checked that the mouse is connected to a non Fast Charged USB 2.0 port
- My operating system is Windows 10 Pro
I'm using a Microsoft account (online) and use WiFi for setting up the fingerprint module. What i've tested so far:
- Deselected "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" under biometric devices in device manager (This will be selected again once I attempt to configure Windows Hello for the mouse)
- Ran sfc /SCANNOW in privileged command prompt to fix possible system errors
- Rebooted my laptop numerious times.
Now i want to note that i have checked Windows Update for new updates and made sure that the driver for the fingerprint module was updated to the latest version. I've checked event viewer, but couldn't find any relative info why the fingerprint module reboots itself. The mouse itself works as it should be, it's only the fingerprint module that's being annoying.
So i was wondering if someone (from HP) could help me out on this one. I also made a topic on the Microsoft Community, but also do it here just to make sure i haven't overlooked anything and if someone could provide some help in this matter.
Regards,
