OK, it's booting from the DL DVD. I do not know why it had problems with the USB Drive, created with Rufus, but it apparently did niot see it.

Sometimes that happens.

I normally use the tool I zipped up and attached below to create a bootable USB flash drive or DVD.

Works for 7, 8, 8.1 and 10.

I just used that USB drive to install 10 on several computers in the last week and had no problem. After having problems today, I even wiped the drive and reinstalled the iso today. Even that did not work. I'm going to try it on another computer and see if it is still having problems. Perhaps the drive has gone bad.

I'll reply to this in about 5 minutes.

USB drive failed on another machine. And the DL DVD failed, too, as i am getting an error messsage "Windows can't be installed on drive 0 partition 4" with an explanation " The selected Disk is of the GPT partition style".

Looks like I will have to make another UEFI  USB Boot Drive and try that!

i notice that I may not have used the UEFI DVD option, and I'm trying again with the DVD ... success, I am now installing Windows on the machine.

Thank you very much, Paul, as your replies got me to the solution. I really appreciate what you have done.
