HP x2 Detachable 10
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all

I am trying to do a clean install of Windows 10 on my new HP x2 Detachable 10 (X9Y27EA#UUZ). I am using an external BluRay drive connected via USB. The BluRay drive spins up when I start up the x2, so it seems to have enough power.

However when I go to F9 Boot Device Options to select the BluRay drive as the boot device, the USB drive is not listed there. Only the internal eemc drive is listed.

How do I get the x2 to boot from the external BluRay drive?

Thanks a lot for any help.

You might need to access the UEFI firmware. Change the boot mode from UEFI to Legacy, and turn off Secure boot:

Or you might need to use Windows 10 64-bit installation disc.

Hi Redzik

The issue was indeed with the Win10 image. After failing to install from the BluRay drive, I created an USB stick using Media Creation Toll. This took about 4 attempts, as I kept getting the "something went wrong" error. Finally the USB stick was created and that one was detected by the x2 and the installation worked.

Thanks a lot
