Hello,

My sons computer had a virus that could not be removed so we saved all his files and built a windows 10 recovery drive.  I ran it on his computer and after it erased the hard drive theinstallation of windows 10 failed.  I figured it was a generic load (and Yes I check the box when creating the recovery drive to add all the windows files).  Is there a place where I can download a factory recover image?

Or help with the recovery process . . I do have the eerror log from the load I can share

Jeff

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

I read your post about your recovery problems and wanted to help.

HP Recovery Media is not available for download, instead, you have to order the physical media from HP.

We would need the detailed product number of the affected PC to see if such media is available.

However, if that PC was Upgraded to Win10 from a prior OS, then the media would restore it to the original OS, not to Win10.

Also, with an Upgraded PC, if all you want to do is restore it to Win10, you can create Win10 installation media from this link and do a clean install:  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/media-creation-tool-install?ocid=ms_wol_win10

Note that when you go do download and build install media, the tool defaults to matching what is already installed on your PC (as in, Home for Home, 64-bit for 64-bit).  While you CAN change these settings, do NOT.  If you do, the resulting media will be different and will force you to enter a NEW product code!

Good Luck
