Tm2-1070us
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello all! Pulled out my old Tm2 that I had retired a few years ago when I had a harddrive failure.. Recently remembered how much I loved this thing and how useful it was.. Got a new solid state HDD for it.. and now that Ive got it installed.. I cant seem to figure out how to make a bootable flash.. I have one for windows 10 but it isnt working.. it wont boot from the usb and it says  no bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key. Any have any tips or know if this is a problem with my bootable usb or is this something else? If Hp or someone could help me I would be more than willing to pay for the help or whatever I need to do to get this running again. 🙂 TY!!

I have better results using Rufus to create a usb flash drive installer with the ISO: https://rufus.akeo.ie/
All settings as shown would be correct for your laptop.
Good luck!

@Deathsong

The BEST way to make a bootable USB with Win10 is using the Media Creation Tool (MCT) from Microsoft. If you used the MCT to make yours, you can rest assured that it is bootable.

You should try it in another PC to confirm that it works.

But ... if it does ... then the problem rests with your PC.

Thats actually what I was afraid of.. because I can use this usb in other computers with no problem.. but for some reason the tm2 isnt accepting it.. I was thinking maybe because the version.. it is a windows 7 machine.. Is this a motherboard issue.. or what.. surely their is a solution somehow right.. and ty so much for your quick reply WAWood

I assume you are tapping Esc key immediately after powering on to bring up the startup menu where F9 Boot Option is a choice?

Btw, if you can still read the 25 character license key from the COA attached to bottom of laptop you can download an ISO of Windows 7  and use Rufus to make a bootable usb drive to install it.

I have been trying this with the esc button and .. but It feels like im missing alot of options in the bios.. like no option to turn off secure boot or anything.. however.. it does alow me to select harddrive or usb as a bootable option.. its just refusing my usb as this option for some reason.. so.. hopefully I guess next I will try making a bootable windows 7 flash of the ios.. their isnt a disk drive on this one unfortunately.. but hopefully I can create a flashdrive with this windows 7 key?

Unfortunitly I get this message from microsoft when trying to get the iso file 😞

The product key you entered appears to be for software pre-installed by the device manufacturer. Please contact the device manufacturer for software recovery options.

Secure Boot is not missing-it was never there. Secure Boot started with Windows 8 machines. So, when you hit esc are you saying you aren't offered F9 Boot Options as a choice?

You can get a Windows 7 iso from here using the ISO Downloader. It appears their site is down temporarily until Mar 22. My preferred site. Run the ISO downloader and choose Winfows 7 COEM:

https://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/67-microsoft-windows-iso-download-tool

There is an alternate site I have used, but avoid the green advertising buttons telling you to "Start Now". Only use the blue "Download" button at bottom of description.

I think i got the Iso creating now with the windows 7 usb /dvd download tool. Its at 14%. Been a long time sense I made one of these but hopefully when I plug that in.. the computer will recognize it and be able to get windows back going again.. atleast thats what im hoping for now right. If that doesnt work im assuming its possibly something else going on.. computer seems to start up fine.. and when I put the flash for win 10 in it just doesnt see it.. so hopefully this it will.
