Pavilion 15, Product Number E9Z19AV
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Trying to update older BIOS on this system prior to removing a dead HDD and going through the downloads I am not finding the appropriate BIN file for the system board ID (2163) on my machine that I get from the UEFI system information tab.

The current machine BIOS is F.67 and I am trying to move to either 68,69,70 or 71(preferable), which are all available updates for this machine.  When I insert the BIOS Update recovery USB drive, and use it there is no 02163.bin file available in the BIOS image, only other numbers.

I am using the HP advice from https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00042629  (update when Windows does not start) and all works except finding the proper bin within the recoverable image to match my system board ID.

Do any of you happen to know about this?

Thanks ahead of time.

What's the point of updating the BIOS?

See if you can update BIOS using a USB flash drive with FreeDOS image.

No particular point, only since I was tearing into machine, thought I would update BIOS prior to dismantling.

I generally don't do any BIOS change since they can add trouble....

I am not familiar with FreeDos other than a brief internet search.  What does that buy me?
