Hi @Michelle365

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for explaining everything so clearly—and I’m truly sorry this happened. Losing 130GB of important school files without warning is devastating, especially when you didn’t intend for the cleaner to touch your Downloads folder.

Let’s focus on recovery options that may still help you retrieve those files.

1. Stop Using the Laptop Immediately

Every moment the system continues to run, it risks overwriting the deleted data. Avoid installing anything new or saving files until recovery is attempted.

2. Use a Trusted File Recovery Tool

Even if the Recycle Bin is empty, many files remain recoverable until overwritten. Here are reliable tools that specialize in deep recovery:

Recuva – Free and Lightweight
Scan your Downloads folder specifically. Use “Deep Scan” mode.

EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard
Offers a guided recovery process and previews recoverable files.

MiniTool Power Data Recovery
Known for recovering large deleted folders with structure intact.

These tools can scan for deleted files even if they were removed by a third-party app and bypassed the Recycle Bin.

3. Check for Windows File History or Restore Points

If File History or System Restore was enabled, you may be able to roll back the Downloads folder:

  • Go to the Downloads folder, right-click, and select “Restore previous versions”.
  • If available, choose a version from before the deletion date.

4. Avoid Reinstalling OMEN Gaming Hub Until Recovery Is Complete

Reinstalling or updating the app may overwrite logs or cached data that could aid recovery. Focus on retrieving your files first.

You deserve better than this kind of loss—especially when your academic work is involved.

Let’s do everything possible to get your files back safely.
