Hi,
I download and install the prolific usb-to-serial driver 4.0.8 and install it on my windows 11 hp pavilion g6 laptop.
It worked properly for some time. It just worked properly at that time. But after some time, each time I try to use the putty or teraterm app to console in to the router using the com port, the putty or teraterm app now says "cannot write to the serial device" and some other error messages that it used to display. So, I uninstalled the prolific usb-to-serial driver 4.0.8 and install it back. Each time that I now check the com port number at the device manager, it now permanently says PL2303TA DO NOT SUPPORT WINDOWS 11 OR LATER, PLEASE CONTACT YOUR SUPPLIER. Please kindly help on how to resolve this windows 11 usb-to-serial driver problems.

The prolific usb-to-serial driver 4.0.8 for windows 11 did not work on my hp pavilion g6 laptop. Each of the time that I check the COM port number on the laptop’s device manager after installing the 4.0.8 driver, it usually says PL2303TA DO NO SUPPORT WINDOWS 11 OR LATER, PLEASE CONTACT YOUR SUPPLIER. So, to resolve the problem, first, I noticed at the prolific website that the PL2303TA needs at most prolific usb-to-serial driver v3.8.41.0. But I couldn’t find the prolific usb-to-serial driver v3.8.41.0 download through the prolific website and through a google search. So, I used the ChatGPT AI to search for where I can download these drivers and ChatGPT suggests – the CNET Website, the Softpedia Website and the Driverscape website. So, I went to download the prolific usb-to-serial driver v3.8.18.0 at this website: https://drivers.softpedia.com/get/laptop-notebook/ASUS/ASUS-ExpertPC-D540SA-Prolific-USB-to-Serial-D... . Even though it is applied to the ASUS Laptop, it will work for the HP Laptops as well. After uninstalling the version 3.9 that I got through the windows 11 update and rolling back to the as well installed v3.8.18.0, On the Windows 11 HP Pavilion g6 Laptop, the Putty and Tera Term Apps can now connect perfectly and as well write commands and read replies from my Cisco 2911 Routers without any error messages and the COM Port at the Device Manager is no longer saying PL2303TA DO NO SUPPORT WINDOWS 11 OR LATER, PLEASE CONTACT YOUR SUPPLIER. In the future, if windows 11 updates again install the latest update of this driver, I will just have to roll back to this old version or find a way to prevent windows 11 from including the prolific usb-to-serial driver update in its future updates.
