I used Unetbootin to create an ubuntu18.04 image. When tested on one laptop, it boots to the Unetbootin menu. But on another, this does not work. I am sure i selected the usb device, but the booting process says

Boot Device not found
Please install an operating system on your hard disk
Hard disk - (3f0)
f2 system diagnostics
for more information please visit www.hp.com....

I think i have configured the bios properly, see:

(I dont know why the image does not show in my post, here is a link https://ibb.co/mtdg7PD)

But this is what the boot menu looks like:

I dont think it sees the USB. when i select the middle one, it shows the error above.

Once again, i confirm that the same usb does boot on my lenovo laptop. So i think this is a bios issue. I also tried both usb ports on my laptop

Please help!

I'm sorry, but HP does not provide support for Linux distros.

IF you replace the preloaded Windows OS with a Linux distro, or add a Linux distro, then you assume full responsibility for maintaining that -- including solving any problems with booting the other OS and/or installing the other OS.

Modern PCs with UEFI, instead of the older BIOS, are especially difficult to install because you have to go into the UEFI settings and make several changes before you can even boot from a USB stick -- and we are unable to assist in that work.

Your best bet for support now is to contact the support forum of the distro you are using.

Since you are using Ubuntu, go here: https://ubuntuforums.org/

Good Luck

To fix Boot Device Not Found error, you can try the below methods:

  1. Perform Hard Reset
  2. Reset BIOS default settings
  3. Reset Hard Drive

Hope it helps!
