Product: HP 15 Laptop 15-dy2093dx
Operating System: Ubuntu LTS

Hello,

 

I'm wondering if anyone has experience replacing Windows with Ubuntu on this HP laptop or with a similar laptop. I have not done this before and I'm thinking about buying it and testing with a live USB, but I'm curious about other people's experiences if there are any.

Using the live usb you can test it, install it as only os, or alongside another os like windows. When testing it you don't have to worry about it writing anything to your disc. you can download an iso image from ubuntu or any other distro and make the live usb with unetbootin.

We don't officially provide any Linux support here because the issue is always the lack of Linux drivers for the specialized hardware that is present in laptops -- and HP does not supply any such drivers.

 

Your best bet is to post to the Ubuntu forums to see what folks there have to say -- and get used to that, because there is where you will have to continue to go to get any other assistance.
