Spectre x-360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have made repeated attempts to purchase a USB-Windows 8 64-bit Recovery Kit via the HPCustomer Support Page but keep getting a Payment Form contains invalid entry error.

I see the same issue posted earlier by someone else. In the previous post, the issue was resolved by setting the billing and shipping address to the same. I set the shipping and billing address to the same but still getting the "Payment Form contains invalid entry" error.

Hi:

I recommend that you call HP at 1 (866) 724-8600, and see if they can help you order recovery media for your notebook.

But before you do that, I have some suggestions you may want to consider instead.

You posted that you are running W10 on your notebook.

Is there a reason you need to reinstall W8/8.1?

You can always reinstall W10 for free at any time as follows...

You can make a W10 USB flash drive installer with the Microsoft Media Creation Tool, using an 8 GB flash drive using another Windows PC, if your PC is not working.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.

Here are the steps to create the W10 USB flash drive installer...

  1. Select Download tool now, and select Run.
  2. If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.
  3. On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.
  4. Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10. You want 64 bit.

  5. Select which media you want to use:
  6. USB flash drive.  Plug in a blank USB flash drive with at least 8GB of space. Any content on the flash drive will be deleted.

Then you can reinstall the drivers and available software from the PC's support page.

If the PC is not running right on W10, you can reinstall W8.1 as follows...

Install W8.1 by creating the Microsoft installation media, using another Windows PC, if yours is not working...You want W8.1 64 bit

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows8ISO

Only if you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, use this generic key.

This is the generic key for W8.1 'standard.'

 334NH-RXG76-64THK-C7CKG-D3VPT

If you had to enter the generic key, manually change the generic product key to the W8 'standard' key in your PC's BIOS in the PC settings menu.

After you get W8.1 installed, and you had to manually enter the W8 generic product key, you will need to run the free utility I zipped up and attached below, that will show you show the W8.1 product key in your PC's BIOS.

I have also zipped up and attached below, the Microsoft tool which hopefully will transfer the ISO file to a DVD or usb flash drive so it is bootable.

Then you can install the available drivers and software from your PC's support page.

Sorry I didn't write the subject correctly. I was trying to buy "16G USB - Windows 10 64-bit Recovery Kit". A Win 10 recovery USB. The reason I want to buy it is that I accenditally deleted the hidden recovery drive on my HP notebook. So I couldn't do any recovery.

And you mentioned that if I download Win10 from internet and install it, it could activate by itself without activation key. I don't know whether it is true or not, but I just want to order a recover USB.

I made the phone call but got the answer that I will need to make order from internet.

Could you please suggest a way to solve this annoying "Payment Contains Invalid Entry" error (or bug)? I tried ordering on laptop, on desktop PC, checked all the characters in the address line, but still don't see any clue.

Hi:

Unfortunately, I have no idea how to help you, because like you, I do not work for, or represent HP.

If you make your own W10 installation media it will indeed automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.

You don't even need the product key as long as you install the version of W10 the key is good for.

The only other way I know of contacting HP online would be to contact the HP executive team at the link below.

Hopefully they will put you in contact with someone who can help.
