HP Fortis 14 inch G10 Chromebook

Hello,

I am currently working as service technician repairing devices for a public school system. We recieved an HP chromebook (HP Fortis 14 inch G10 Chromebook) as part of a side project for another county that presented with the issue of "will not power on". After diagnosis, we ordered a new systemboard for the device, and we need to set the serial on the new board.

Trying to run the command  vpd -s "serial_number" returns a "flashrompartialwrite() error". We have looked all over for a WP screw with no success, and we have tried running both "flashrom -p host --wp-disable" and "flashrom -p ec --wp disable" with the first returning a failed status, and the second returning a "RO_AT_BOOT is not clear" message. We have also run the "crossystem | grep wpsw" command to try and determine if there is still hardware write protect and it returns a value of "wpsw_cur = 1".

Does anyone know how to disable write protect for these devices? Is it possible to get a factory shim to override this protection and set the serial? and if so, how would I create this shim? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
