I am unable to update from Windows 10 Version 1909 (current version on notebook) to Version 2004. When I do check for Windows Updates, it gives me this message: "The Windows 10 May 2020 Update is on its way. Once it’s ready for your device, you’ll see the update available on this page." Is there anyway around this message? Some Software update that HP has to provide first?
Appreciate any help that can be provided.
Thanks,

It's really a hardware issue -- as MS believes certain hardware items will still cause issues with the 20.04 Update -- but, as is typical for MS, then won't tell us which those items happen to be.
I wrote the article because you MIGHT be able to force the Update without any issues -- I did that on several PCs and have not run into any problems since. But because you have no idea going in whether or not your PC will workout OK, I added information on making an image backup so you have something to restore FROM if the Update causes problems for your PC.

That message is there for a reason -- there is some hardware on your PC that will present issues if you FORCE the upgrade, which is why MS is blocking it for your PC. As to when that block will be removed, we have no idea and MS is not telling folks.
Here's an article I wrote about that update: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebooks-Knowledge-Base/Updating-your-laptop-to-Windows-10-v2004-May-...
You really are better off waiting for the update to be offered.

To WAWood - thanks for the reply to my problem. So it sound like this is a MS problem and not a HP problem; correct? I thought HP had to provide some fix to my laptop to make it able to update to Win 10 Ver 2004. I have received a general notice from HP saying that they are no longer supporting my laptop; but I was unsure if that meant supporting HW or SW. My laptop is only a little over 2 years old. Is there anyway to contact HP and ask that question?
Is there anyway to know what software on my laptop is preventing the Windows update? I am afraid that eventually MS will no longer support the current Win 10 Ver 1909 that is on my laptop.
Appreciate your help.
Thanks,
AJer
