HP Pavilion x360 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-ek0000 (54B29AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My Pavillion x360 decided to not work any more. I'm not able to enter BIOS when I press Esc repeatedly, it just do nothing. After about 5mins it will display an error on HDD/SSD not found. I tried reseating the SSD but it didn't work. I'm thinking of buying another one but I don't think this is not going to solve the issue because I'm not able to enter BIOS. When I press Windows key + B then Power button it says my BIOS is corrupted and to try to create a BIOS USB recovery on a thumb drive. I've downloaded the latest BIOS update in the support site but it comes with an installer and when I run it, it looks like it's suppose to run on my HP machine and not on another computer. Is there a way to create a BIOS USB recovery using another machine? The QR Code and link returns a 404

Hi @alinangnaiba,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the error you're getting on your laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Yes! You can create a BIOS recovery USB on another computer and use it to restore your Pavilion x360. Since your laptop is displaying a BIOS corruption message, follow these steps carefully:

Download the Correct BIOS for Your Laptop

  1. On another Windows PC, go to HP’s official support site:
👉 HP Software & Driver Downloads
  2. Enter your laptop’s model: HP Pavilion x360 14-ek0000
  3. Select BIOS from the list of drivers.
  4. Download the latest BIOS update (spXXXXX.exe) file.

Create a BIOS Recovery USB on Another PC

  1. Insert a USB flash drive (at least 8GB, formatted to FAT32) into the working computer.
  2. Run the BIOS update file (spXXXXX.exe) you downloaded.
  3. Click NextAgree → Then select Create Recovery USB Flash Drive.
  4. Choose your USB drive and let the process complete.

📌 If you don’t see the "Create Recovery USB" option, let me know—I’ll guide you through an alternative method.

Recover BIOS on Your HP Pavilion x360

  1. Insert the BIOS recovery USB into your Pavilion x360.
  2. Press & hold the Windows key + B, then press the Power button for 2-3 seconds, and release all keys.
  3. The screen should turn on, and the BIOS recovery process will start automatically.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to restore the BIOS.

If BIOS Recovery Fails

If the BIOS recovery doesn’t work, try resetting the CMOS battery:

  1. Turn off the laptop and unplug the charger.
  2. Open the back cover and disconnect the battery (or find the small CMOS battery).
  3. Press & hold the Power button for 30 seconds.
  4. Reconnect everything and try again.

Check SSD Connection

Since you’re also getting an HDD/SSD not found error:

  • Try inserting another SSD to rule out a faulty drive.
  • If the BIOS still doesn’t recognize any SSD, the motherboard might have a hardware issue.

Let me know how this goes! If you run into any errors while creating the BIOS USB, I can guide you through alternative methods. 😊

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?"—your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀
