Hi @NiveaAJ,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

The error you’re encountering, Error 1722, during the installation of HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI suggests there’s a problem with the Windows Installer package or an issue with the system’s configuration that is preventing the installation from completing successfully. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:

Step 1: Run the Installer as Administrator

  • Right-click on the installer file (.exe) and select "Run as administrator."
  • This ensures that the installer has the necessary permissions to make changes to your system.

Step 2: Check for Corrupt Installer or File Download Issues

  • Re-download the installer from the official HP support page.
  • Make sure that the download completes without interruptions to avoid any file corruption.

Step 3: Disable Antivirus and Firewall Temporarily

  • Temporarily disable any third-party antivirus software and the Windows Defender firewall.
  • Antivirus or firewall settings can sometimes interfere with the installation process.

Step 4: Run Windows Troubleshooter for Program Install and Uninstall

  1. Download and run the Program Install and Uninstall troubleshooter from Microsoft.
  2. This tool can help fix problems that block program installation, such as issues with the Windows Installer package.

Step 5: Check Windows Installer Service

  1. Restart the Windows Installer Service:
    • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
    • Scroll down and find Windows Installer.
    • Right-click on it and select Restart.
  2. Ensure that the service is set to Manual startup type, which is the default setting.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

2. This will unregister and then re-register the Windows Installer service.

Step 7: Clean Boot Your PC

  1. Perform a clean boot to eliminate potential software conflicts:
    • Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
    • In the System Configuration window, go to the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services, and then click Disable all.
    • Go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager. Disable all startup items.
    • Restart your computer and try installing the diagnostics tool again.

Step 8: Check for System File Corruption

  1. Run the System File Checker and DISM tools

Step 9: Try Installing in Safe Mode with Networking

  1. Boot into Safe Mode with Networking:
    • Press Win + R, type msconfig, and go to the Boot tab. Check Safe boot and Network.
    • Restart your computer.
    • Try installing the diagnostics tool in Safe Mode.

These steps should help you troubleshoot and resolve the installation error.

If none of these steps work, there might be an underlying issue specific to your system that requires direct assistance from HP Phone Support for further assistance.
