Hello, I am fixing a laptop for a client and I am completely stuck on what to do at the moment.
The user's laptop (SN: HP Laptop 15-dy1018ca -- 7PL18UA) had a sudden drive failure and the M.2 SSD completely failed and was unable to be detected on even an external enclosure. I have a Windows 10 boot USB prepared that I use to install Windows fresh on computers, but there were driver errors and it was unable to install properly.
Some threads said this was due to Intel Storage drivers, I attempted to find some for another laptop (as this one has no drivers available on the HP website), but putting them in the correct folder I was still unable to use them when installing Windows.
The replacement drive I ordered was definitely of the correct type, it matches the exact specifications of the OEM M.2 SSD just by a different brand.
I have attempted to contact HP support, but it seems like it is not available in any way with a real person if you don't have warranty or HP's premium service which is frustrating, I also expected some firmware or BIOS drivers for this laptop on the website, but my only option is to order an extremely expensive ($85 + $25 shipping) 16gb usb drive with HP's Windows recovery that I can't be assured will even work.
I know this laptop is out of warranty, but the fact that I am completely unable to self service and install Windows when this is possible on any other laptop brand I know is unacceptable, I am able to do this process on new and old lenovo laptops with no issue at all.

Hi:
See if the drivers for the 11th Intel core processors work. Follow the guidance below...The driver has more than just the 11th gens.
The link they direct you to the HP support site doesn't work.
Here is the link to the driver you need...
This package contains the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver for the supported notebook models and operating systems. The Intel Rapid Storage Technology is designed to provide functionality for the Intel Storage Controllers. The driver improves Serial ATA (SATA) disk performance with Native Command Queuing.

There is another thing I don't understand in that document, and that is where HP tells you to right click on the Intel driver file and select Extract to
When I ran through the steps, I don't get an Extract to option when I right click on the file.
So, if you have the same issue, download and install the free 7-zip file utility from the link below.
The 2nd file at the top of the page is for 64 bit.
Then you can right click on the exe file, select 7-Zip from the menu, and select Extract to: and let it extract the file into its folder name (sp109000), and copy that folder to your USB flash drive, and continue with the instructions.

Hi, thanks for the reply, I have followed the instructions and put the drivers you linked on my boot USB after extracting them.
Unfortunately when I go into the windows installation and get to step 9 of that guide, I cannot browse the USB itself, it hangs and will not go to the file structure of the USB drive itself.

I created a brand new windows key on a different USB drive and reextracted the drivers, still unable to access the USB's folders on Windows installation screen, just hangs and doesn't do anything. I wonder if there are USB drivers that also need to be there?

I don't have a clue why that is happening.
W10 has all of the USB 3/3.1 drivers included.
If it was W7, that may be an issue.
I have one other idea...do you remember in the good old days when installing XP and it would blue screen when the drive controller was in AHCI mode?
Other than using an old USB FDD with the SATA drivers on it, the only other way to get XP to install was to slipstream the drivers into the OS itself.
Do you know how to do that?
You might be able to slipstream that F6 driver folder right into the W10 installation media.

I have tried the slipstream solution and directly loaded the f6 folder of the sp109000 drivers you linked, they are still not being recognized when installing windows, is it possible these are not the right drivers? the system has an i5 10th gen if these are for i7, though that shouldn't really matter if they are mass storage drivers.

I tested a final solution after putting those recent drivers on the USB and them not working, I plugged in another USB drive with just the drivers, this did allow me to select and install the drivers but I stilll cannot install windows, I tested drivers from both the sp109000 and that archive you linked, even clicking "hide drivers that aren't compatible" after I click next and it seems to install them, it goes back to the "No new devices drivers were found. Make sure the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK" and I can't go further, and if I cancel to retry install it brings me back to the driver screen, really stuck as to what to do.
