HP Pavilion x360 - 13-s060sa (ENERGY STAR)

Been having a nightmater for a week now, PIN is not recognised, change PIN doesnt work, password doesnt work. Recovery modes/Startup recovery etc doesnt work, giving me errors. Command promt setting up admin login worked, but it wont allow me to swtich login users. Done million restarts and booting, no change.

Please help, what can i do now?! Loads of files unsaved, so cannot do a full reset

If you're willing to spend some money and have another working PC, I have a suggestion that should work.

Macrium Reflect sells a product that allows you to do image backups and restores -- but their product also allows you to make a boot USB stick.  When you boot from that stick, the screen has an icon for their file manager.  Using that, you could connect a USB stick and download the files you need to save from the drive.

Good Luck

Thank you, i will research this -appreciate the suggestion!

So, what you are satying is there is no way in solving this somehow, like a USB password reset or similar? To by-pass login/force reset password or PIN, then i can save all my files, and do a full resert of the laptop...

While yes, you could use a USB password stick to reset, you needed to have made that BEFORE this problem.  It is too late to try and make it now, as you need the password in order to create it.

Making the USB stick on another PC will allow you to use it on yours to boot into Macrium Reflect -- which is basically outside of Windows.

Wish i knew this would happen, i was due to backup all my files the other week, but postponed it.. Hmm.

Is there any other advise you could think of to try to

1. reset PIN (currently this doesnt work if you click on)

2 .Reset password (doesnt work if you click on)

I just got quoted £300 to fix it virtually, completely wiping the laptop.. 😞 Im due to buy a new one, so im trying to not spend money on this, unless absolutely no other way to save the files!

If you're going to buy a new one, then remove the drive and after you get the new one, hook the drive up to the new one using an adapter and then use File Manager to copy over the files you want to keep.

Due to forum policy, we can't help you bypass the password -- but if you take this to a local laptop repair place, they should have tools that will allow you to boot in or to reset the password.

But once again, that is going to cost money.
