HP Notebook Model 14-AN012NR
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am trying to find a way to  purchase a recovery kit for an HP Notebook model 14-AN012NR laptop. The Windows 10 OS is severally damage beyond repair and the only course of action is a full re-install. I tried purchasing software from HP site but the site has security issues. Not sure why HP web admin can't correct this issue. Very insecure why of doing business and scary.

The title of the recovery kit on the HP Drivers/Software page for the laptop is 16G USB - Windows 10 Compact 64-bit Recovery Kit. I would like to know if there is a way to obtain the software to re-image and register the laptop without issues. For some reason, the original recovery USB has been misplaced during a move to a new home.

Now please use the following way

             https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

You can do a clean install Windows 10. Machine will use the key in BIOS to activate Windows for you

Your machine came with Windows 10. Please use Cloud Recovery tool:

I tried the HP Cloud Recovery software and it does not have a recovery entry for the HP Notebook 14-AN012NR. The originally installed Windows 10 Home 64-bit is totally unusable. Black screen dead. Can't even get to "Safe Mode". Is there no other way to obtain the recovery software?

I'll give it a try and report back on success or failure.

Thanks for replying back.

Hello Banhien,

I downloaded the Windows Media Creation Tool from Microsoft and installed. Windows 10 is installed. I do have a concern in that I was not allow to select the original Windows 10 Home 64-bit version that originally came installed on this laptop. It only displayed Windows 10. After installing, I checked the version installed and it is Windows 10  Pro. Now I am concerned with the Windows activating properly through the BIOS like you mentioned. Is there a previous Media Creation Tool that you know of that I can download that has the list of Windows OS's I can choose from to install so don't have an issue with activation with the BIOS key relating to the original OS that was previously installed? I'm concerned there is going to be an  activation problem.

No, it will look at the valid key in BIOS and activate accordingly.

Hi Banhien,

I was able to resolve the activation issue by re-installing Windows Home 64-bit with a previous version of Media Creation Tool (MediaCreationToolx64.exe) vs MediaCreationTool21H1.exe. Windows is now activated and seems to be working fine. So I will close this issue and I greatly appreciate the assistance with this HP Notebook.

Thanks!
