Please help! I have recently tried to do a fresh install of Windows 7 professional with a iso burned onto a usb using Rufus. I have also tried using an old windows 7 ultimate disc with a peripheral disc drive. On both occasions I have been presented with the ‘missing cd/dvd drivers’ message. Having trawled the forums for three days I have not been able to fix the problem. Now on top of this I decided (probably too hastily) to clean the disc using DiskPart in command prompt, unfortunately I have now wiped the entire lot including the previous install of windows 7. When I try to re install the OS I am presented with the same ‘missing cd/dvd drivers’ prompt. I get the install windows 7 screen, start the process but get no further than the mentioned missing drivers message with the option to browse.
1. I am am aware that usb 3 is not an option and have been using the usb 2 port when trying to install from the flash drive. I was unable to format the flash drive using the windows tool therefore used Rufus to put the iso downloaded from Microsoft onto the drive.
2. Do I need to make changes in the BIOS, if so can anyone help with a detailed instruction for this machine (pro book 430 g3)? Should I be able to see the HDD in computer? (I only see boot x)
3. Is it likely I have missing drivers that need to be installed? I have no OS now, is this possible? I dont have a chipset drivers cd.
The laptop is my wife’s, I started out with the great idea of re installing the OS in order to give her machine a refresh. Instead I have rendered it useless!
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Problem solved. The feeling of elation was indescribable, heres the fix I finally made work afer 4 days toiling over this machine.
Downloaded the ISO for Windows 7 from Microsft and burned with Rufus portable - http://rufus.akeo.ie/ to USB flash drive.
Downloaded this utility to add the drivers to the installation - https://www.gigabyte.com/Support/Faq/3459
Popped in machine and the whole lot booted up.
Nice!

If your BIOS has settings for USB 3.0 support during start up, turn it to AUTO or DISABLE.
When Windows is asking for the driver, just click Cancel and close that window. You will be brought back to the install screen. At the install screen, remove your USB drive, insert it back to a different usb port. Click Install Now again.

Hi, @JSS2
Here's the problem...
As you stated W7 does not have the USB 3 driver support to install.
However, the USB2 port is useless too because Intel in their infinite wisdom does not provide USB2 support until after W7 is installed and you are able to install the Intel chipset installation utility.
Now I am surprised that you can't install W7 using a standard W7 installation DVD.
You can get around the USB flash drive not working by using this utility which installs the USB 3 drivers into your W7 installation flash drive.
There is a readme file on the webpage for how to use the utility.
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25476/NUCs-Windows-7-USB-3-0-Creator-Utility
Download the applicable file for the OS you plan to run the utility on.
In the BIOS you need to enable legacy mode and disable secure boot.
W7 is not compatible with secure boot.

I have given up on trying to re install with the usb flash drive. I have got a windows 7 disc but am still getting the missing drivers message. I am literally going up the wall as I cant seem to get around this. Has anyone got anymore ideas for me? Im amazed that it is proving to be this difficult to reinstall the OS. As a side note it seems that I have not wiped the drive as I thought.
