I have a hp laptop 15-dw1xxx and I am ubable to reset it. I keep getting a message that says there is a problem when trying to reset. I have to enter my admin password every time i log in, and there is no "sign-in options" button. The screen says my pin is unavailable due to changes in security.

Hi @Ap606,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems you are encountering issues with resetting your HP laptop and using the PIN sign-in option. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot these issues:

Use Windows Recovery Environment:

  • Restart your computer and press F11 as it boots to enter Recovery Environment.
  • Select "Troubleshoot" > "Reset this PC" > "Remove everything" for a full reset.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the reset.

Using HP Recovery Manager:

  • If available, you can use the HP Recovery Manager:
  • Turn off your laptop, press the power button, and repeatedly press F11 until Recovery Manager opens.
  • Select "Recovery Manager" if available, then follow the prompts to reset.

Windows Installation Media:

  • Create a Windows 10 installation media on a USB drive using Microsoft's Media Creation Tool.
  • Boot from the USB drive and select "Repair your computer" > "Troubleshoot" > "Reset this PC".

Remove and Set Up the PIN Again:

  • Go to "Settings" > "Accounts" > "Sign-in options".
  • Remove the current PIN and set it up again.

Enable Sign-In Options:

  • Ensure you have the latest Windows updates installed.
  • Check under "Settings" > "Accounts" > "Sign-in options" for any changes or updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a blissful day 😇.
