@Lukas59, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If you are experiencing issues with your HP laptop where changes to the boot order are not being saved, here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Verify USB Bootability: Ensure that the USB device you are attempting to boot from is correctly formatted and contains a bootable version of the operating system. Sometimes the issue can be related to the USB not being bootable despite being recognized by the BIOS.

Secure Boot Settings:

  • Check the Secure Boot settings within the BIOS. If Secure Boot is enabled, it might prevent booting from certain USB devices that are not recognized as secure. You may need to disable Secure Boot temporarily to allow booting from USB.
  • Navigate to the Security section in your BIOS and look for the Secure Boot option. Disable it for testing purposes.

Save Changes Properly:

  • Make sure you are selecting "Save Changes and Exit" before exiting the BIOS. Additionally, ensure you are not inadvertently selecting "Ignore Changes and Exit."

BIOS/UEFI Update:

  • Your laptop's BIOS/UEFI might need an update, which can resolve issues with boot settings not saving properly. Visit the HP support website to check for BIOS updates for your particular model.

Hardware Issues:

  • Ensure that there are no issues with your USB ports or the USB storage device itself. Try different USB ports and verify the USB device on another computer.

USB Drive Configuration:

  • Ensure that your USB drive is visible in the BIOS under bootable devices. If the drive is not showing up, it may not be compatible or properly configured for your laptop.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
