Setting up new HP laptop, Microsoft is blocking and looping. The F keys don't work, I can restart to troubleshoot or find a way to open in safe mode. Working for hours and finding no solutions.

Hi @debwar6,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • At what stage of the setup process does the system loop (e.g., during account sign-in, updates, or after restart)?
  • Do you see any specific error messages or codes on the screen?
  • Which model of HP laptop are you using?

In the meantime, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Force Restart
    • Hold down the power button for 10–15 seconds until the laptop shuts down completely.
    • Wait a few seconds, then power it back on.
  2. Access Safe Mode
    • Restart the laptop and repeatedly press Shift + F8 or F11 (depending on the model) before Windows loads.
    • If successful, you’ll see advanced startup options where you can select Safe Mode.
  3. Reset Windows Setup
  • If the setup keeps looping, you can perform a system recovery:
  • Power off the laptop.
  • Power it back on and immediately press F11 repeatedly to access HP Recovery Manager.
  • From there, you can choose to reset Windows or perform a fresh installation.

I hope this helps.
