Hi @Hanif0905

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

To resolve the privilege error when trying to install applications on Drive C using your HP Victus by HP 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop, here are HP-specific steps to help troubleshoot:

1. Use HP Support Assistant

  • Ensure that the HP Support Assistant software is installed on your laptop.
  • Open the app and navigate to Updates and Messages to check for any pending system or driver updates.
  • Installing updates from HP Support Assistant may resolve compatibility or permissions issues.

2. Check HP System Recovery Options

  • Use the built-in HP Recovery Manager to check for and repair system files.
  • Press F11 during startup to access the recovery options, and select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > System Repair.
  • This will scan for system errors, including privilege-related issues.

3. Reset Windows Settings via HP Recovery Tools

  • From the recovery environment (accessible via F11 during boot), select Reset this PC > Keep My Files.
  • HP Recovery Manager ensures that the reset process retains HP-specific customizations while resolving system-level errors.

4. Install HP Certified Drivers

  • Visit the HP Support page and download drivers tailored for your laptop model (Victus by HP 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb1000).
  • Install the chipset and storage drivers to ensure Drive C is configured correctly for file installations.

5. Use HP BIOS Settings

  • Restart your laptop and press F10 to access the BIOS.
  • Check for any storage-related settings that might restrict write access to Drive C.
  • Make sure the storage mode is set to AHCI and not RAID if applicable.
